About us
Started with one truck and a promise to show up.
Dave Whitfield founded Summit in 2003 after years of watching neighbors get burned by fly-by-night HVAC outfits. Twenty-three years later, his daughter Erin runs day-to-day operations — same promise, more trucks.
How we started
Dave spent eleven years at a large regional HVAC chain before he'd had enough of the commission structure — technicians paid more for selling a new system than for fixing the one you had. In 2003 he started Summit with a used van and a rule that's stuck ever since: diagnose first, quote a flat rate, let the customer decide.
Second generation
Erin Whitfield joined the business in 2016 after a decade in operations management, became General Manager in 2021, and built out the maintenance-plan and indoor-air- quality side of the business. Dave still rides along on installs most weeks.
How we work
Every technician on the truck is NATE-certified before they're sent out solo. Every job gets a flat rate quoted before work starts — no hourly surprises, no commission on upsells. If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, that's what we'll say.
